I have gone to classes at Momentum Learning for the past 4 years and it has been essential to my success in USACO and AMC contests. I was originally a complete beginner in both competitive programming and math but was able to qualify for the USAJMO and USACO National Training Camp through the high-quality and rigorous classes there. Without the help of amazing and supportive Momentum Learning teachers including Dr. Nal, Mrs. Nal, and Dr. Ming, I would not have been able to reach my potential. I wholeheartedly recommend Momentum Learning classes to anybody wanting to excel at math or computer science.

I decided to try taking some Momentum Learning classes after hearing about them online. I am originally from Idaho, and the resources for learning competition math are very limited. I was the top student in the state, but online I could see that other states and areas would have many more opportunities to grow. After sitting through the first class, it was clear to me how passionate the teachers were about their fields. The lectures were fun, enlightening, and best of all impactful. Dr. Nal and Ms. Nal really inspired me to find a career in math and to continue doing competitive mathematics in the future. If your child is aspiring to become a mathematician, this program could be life-changing. 10/10.

Momentum Learning took me from a kid who was struggling to get a double-digit score on the AMC 8 to a JMO, USAMO, and USACO Gold Qualifier. I highly recommend their Competition Math and Competitive Programming classes - Dr. Nal, Mrs. Nal, and Dr. Ming, among others, provide rigorous, concise, quality instruction that has helped me and many others learn at rates unlike anything before. The material they teach and cover is extremely useful in a competitive setting, in addition to being original and guaranteed to work your brain. Their classes are undoubtedly the most effective and consistent courses I have ever taken - I'd give Momentum Learning 6 stars if I could.

I started taking Momentum Learning classes since 6th grade, and every single class I have taken has taught me so much about math and science. The teachers are very kind and eager to teach, and it is this passion that also inspires me to learn new things and become better academically. Momentum Learning is not just a great place to learn, but also a great community of learners. I have met people and teachers that relate a lot to me and through the process of talking to them, I have learned more things in these classes than I have learned anywhere else. Without Momentum Learning, I wouldn't know half the things about math and science I now know. Some of my favorite teachers, including Mrs. Nal and Dr. Nal, have taught me some things that I will remember for the rest of my life. They make me eager to learn new things, as well as explore ideas that I would never dream about knowing had they not told me about them. To anyone who wants to learn new things, I would strongly recommend they take Momentum Learning classes.

Amazing teachers! My son has been taking classes from Momentum Learning and he has improved so much. Before Momentum, he was taking competition math classes from other places. But what a difference after we found Momentum. The classes are clearly structured from the beginner level and up. We just finished CM301 which is the perfect level for us. No other places in Houston can even remotely match what Momentum Learning offers. Last November, my son scored high on AMC8 and now he's very self-motivated. We are very grateful!

Dr. Nal had taught me exceptionally well in the course of Advanced Algebra. In the online class, it was very interactive and students were able to connect with others and the teacher. Dr. Nal increased my interest and enthusiasm in math with his unique and fun style of teaching. I will return to learn even more with Dr. Nal.

We went to the winter camp last year and it was amazing. We have been to several other math camps and this is absolutely the best out of all. Dr. Nal's class was very fun and full of inspiration. The front desk was also very helpful. My son wanted to use his cellphone during lunch break, but I was afraid that he would use it during the class. The receptionist kindly offered to keep the phone during class time and return it to my son during lunch break. It turned out to work perfectly! I strongly recommend Momentum Learning!

My son attended the winter camp and the online course from Momentum. He loves it, especially Dr. Nal. He said he never had a class taught in such a fun way yet very helpful to improve his math competition performance. Dr. Nal also helped him built up his confidence and interest in math. I can't thank more for what we received from Dr. Nal. I highly recommend Momentum Learning for all kids who have an interest in Math and want to improve their math competition performance.

With excellent teachers and wonderful staff, Momentum Learning is truly one of the finest teaching institutions in Sugar Land. All 3 of my kids learned under Mrs.Nal, Dr. Nal, and their coworkers. It's the best learning experience of their life. I highly recommend Momentum Learning!

Momentum learning is a great place to learn competition math and has personally helped me get into USAJMO. The teachers are responsive and kind as well as knowledgeable and prompt to answer questions.

Momentum Learning has helped me immeasurably with improving my skills in contest math. I have found both their online and in person camps to be very well taught and helpful. The teachers are always willing to help, and create a positive environment for the students to learn. With their help I was able to improve my contest scores drastically, and develop a newfound interest in math.

I have been taking Momentum Learning’s courses for four years now. My experience has been awesome since day one, and it only gets better every year. All of the teachers are super helpful and friendly, and the homework always supplements their teaching very well. What I particularly enjoy about Momentum Learning is the positive and high energy, yet laid back learning environment they provide, which has enabled me to develop problem-solving skills while having tons of fun doing it. Moreover, the material taught during each class has been engaging and stimulating, showing the thorough planning from the teachers and staff behind the scenes. In addition, I often got to solve problems and share experiences with the other students, many of whom have become my close friends. Overall, Momentum Learning has been a life-changing experience for me, and I would highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys math or science.
Questions? We Are Here to Help.
Easy answers to some common questions.
Please check out our contest math curriculum.
No, different instructional material and practice problems will be used for the summer. Very often, students cannot master the concepts on their first, second, or even third try, so iteration and repetition may be necessary. These are difficult concepts that go well beyond what is taught in school.
Our structured curriculum is focused on teaching students and improving their problem-solving skills. The main goal is not to prepare for any specific math contests, though mastering the knowledge will help students do well in math contests. Students should take classes based on their current level, rather than where they want to be. You need to learn how to walk before you can run, regardless of how old you are.
We would strongly advise you to take Level 1 as Level 2 covers hard AMC10 questions and Level 1 covers medium difficulty (problem 15 – 20) AMC10 questions.
In most cases, the answer is NO. Usually it takes one year or even longer to move up a level. There is a significant difficulty level increase between each level.
If you are currently taking contest math classes at Momentum, you should receive our summer recommendation by mid March. In case you have not, you can send us an email at info@momentumlearning.org
Recordings are available in case you miss a class or simply want to watch it again. All class materials are accessible via Canvas for 6 more weeks after the last day of the camp.
Recordings are for viewing ONLY.
If you are reasonably comfortable with Pre-Algebra, you should take Introduction to Contest Math. 3 different sessions will cover the basics of all 4 subjects (Algebra, Geometry, Number Theory, and Combinatorics).
No, Level 2 will not be easy for you. In this class, we cover techniques used to solve medium to hard AMC10/12 problems and medium-level AIME questions (5-8).
The goals and the content covered in Level 3 and 4A are completely different. Level 3 focuses on computational math and will help students improve their AIME scores. Level 4A is intro to proof writing that will help students improve their performance on contests such as USA(J)MO.
