Contest Math + School Math Class Selection Criteria (Fall/Spring)
As our contest math classes cover a lot of difficult material, it is challenging for students to keep up with the class sometimes. We recommend our students learn the basics (school math) ahead of time so that it will be easier when they take the harder contest math classes.
- For students taking CM101/200, they can also take Number Sense at the same time.
- For students taking CM201, they can also take Algebra 1 at the same time.
- For students taking CM301, they can also take Geometry at the same time.
- For students taking CM401, they can also take Algebra 2 at the same time.
Contest Math Class Selection Criteria (Fall/Spring)
Momentum Learning provides a structured contest math curriculum ranging from upper-level elementary school (CM100) to the highest USA(J)MO/IMO level (CM701/701). Our program includes comprehensive coverage of key concepts, engaging lectures lasting 2 hours per week, and carefully selected weekly homework assignments, each requiring approximately 2 hours to complete.
For CM100, answers and solutions will be provided in Canvas and the teacher will go over selected questions in the beginning of each class. For classes from CM101 – CM301, optional one-on-one TA sessions can be scheduled if needed. Homework video solutions will be provided. For class from CM401 to CM701, written homework solutions and video homework solutions both will be provided in Canvas.
CM100-201: If your grade falls within the recommended range, you are exempt from the qualifying test. Otherwise, you must take the qualifying test unless you have successfully completed two semesters of the preceding course. For instance, if you’ve completed both the fall and spring semesters of CM101A and CM101B respectively, you are eligible to enroll in CM200 without the need for a qualifying test, regardless of your grade level.
CM301-CM701
Official scores from the AMC8/10/AIME exams are mandatory. In the absence of official scores, new students who lack the necessary testing scores may take the CM301 and CM401 tests instead.
