Not to brag, but we are proud to announce that the top 10 spots in Houston MATHCOUNTS chapter students were students at Momentum Learning. We’ve also had 6 of our student’s secure spots in the competitive Math Olympiad Program (MOP). We applaud our 240+ students who have qualified for AIME and 60+ students who have qualified for USA(J)MO. We also congratulate our teams for winning ARML, the February HMMT, CMIMC, MATHCOUNTS, and PUMaC.

Questions? We Are Here to Help.

Easy answers to some common questions.

No, different instructional material and practice problems will be used for the summer. Very often, students cannot master the concepts on their first, second, or even third try, so iteration and repetition may be necessary. These are difficult concepts that go well beyond what is taught in school.

Our structured curriculum is focused on teaching students and improving their problem-solving skills. The main goal is not to prepare for any specific math contests, though mastering the knowledge will help students do well in math contests. Students should take classes based on their current level, rather than where they want to be. You need to learn how to walk before you can run, regardless of how old you are.

We would strongly advise you to take Level 1 as Level 2 covers hard AMC10 questions and Level 1 covers medium difficulty (problem 15 – 20) AMC10 questions.

In most cases, the answer is NO. Usually it takes one year or even longer to move up a level. There is a significant difficulty level increase between each level.

If you are currently taking contest math classes at Momentum, you should receive our summer recommendation by mid March. In case you have not, you can send us an email at info@momentumlearning.org

Recordings are available in case you miss a class or simply want to watch it again. All class materials are accessible via Canvas until 3-4 weeks after the last day of the camp.

Recordings are for viewing ONLY.

If you are reasonably comfortable with Pre-Algebra, you should take Introduction to Contest Math. 3 different sessions will cover the basics of all 4 subjects (Algebra, Geometry, Number Theory, and Combinatorics).

No, Level 2 will not be easy for you. In this class, we cover techniques used to solve medium to hard AMC10/12 problems and medium-level AIME questions (5-8).

The goals and the content covered in Level 3 and 4A are completely different. Level 3 focuses on computational math and will help students improve their AIME scores. Level 4A is intro to proof writing that will help students improve their performance on contests such as USA(J)MO.
